What's This All About?

The 12 Charities of Christmas is a family project designed to keep the spirit of giving alive throughout the year. Every month, our family decides on one charity to support with a gift of $30.00. We brainstorm on charities that we would all like to support, gather information on them, hold a "family meeting" and vote!

This is a new project starting tomorrow, January 1, 2010. In our 12 Charities of Christmas binder, we'll keep charitable information and correspondence. We may decide to volunteer at different organizations or donate in-kind gifts, such as clothing and books.

At the end of the year, we'll list all of the charities we've supported every month and let our friends and family know about them in our Christmas Card letter. We hope that this news will inspire others to give and also to let folks know that small donations are okay. In fact, they make a huge difference in making our world a better place to live.

"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." - Aesop

  2. Hi Jen,
My name is Julie Lins. I stumbled across your blog, and I couldn't agree with you more....keeping the spirit of giving alive throughout the year. I, too am trying to do that. My husband and I recently launched a website called Sent From Ebove.com (www.sentfromebove.com).
Sent From Ebove is an online community with a single mission to connect local people in need with those who can help.

Sent From Ebove is an online giving community where people in need can post a wish and ask for the help that they need, for their community or for the world to see.

There are many generous people who would love to give and help someone directly. We want to bring these people together. We are a marketplace for altruism and informal philanthropy.

We would be grateful if you would look at our site and offer any feedback or suggestions you might have on how we can work with other organizations to help Sent From Ebove to build more community. We have a counter on our site of the number of people helped. We hope that someday it will have numbers in the millions.

    Thank you for your time.
Sincerely, Julie Lins, Founder Sent From Ebove
